Dear, dear Pittsburgh Camerata board members, singers, and friends:
I’m off tomorrow for a longgg drive to Chicago!! The Chorus America national conference starts Wednesday, 20 Jun, at 11am.
I plan to write each day about the conference, which ends Saturday, 23 Jun. (We’ll see how that goes!) But writing while I’m listening will keep me awake and engaged, and that’s a good thing, as I’m not good at sitting for long periods, or heck – even short periods – as most of you can attest ; )
I’m excited that I’ll be visiting Chicago friends as well:
…Jeffrey, a dear friend and pianist who accompanied me 31 years ago on my senior voice recital (we started college when we were 12, of course, because we CANNOT be 50-something now….no…), and who is singing at the conference as a member of Cantate Chicago;
…Mike, Joanne, and Leo, fellow teachers and musicians and artists, who started the Northside College Prep High School Fine Arts Department with me back in 1999;
…and Jason, actually from Nashville, who has composed music on commission for us at First UU of Indiana, PA, and who will be speaking at the church I’ll be singing in on Sunday (with the above-mentioned Jeff on the piano).
Til tomorrow, then…
